Abstract
The poultry industry, with its high energy consumption, faces problems such as energy imbalance and high costs. Given the high potential of solar energy in Iran, this study investigated the application of solar energy in poultry farms in Kermanshah province. A qualitative study with an interpretive approach was conducted on 86 people (poultry farmers, experts from Jihad Keshavarzi and the electricity distribution company) and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 people. The data were analyzed with MAXQDA software. The results showed that the application of solar energy requires five main categories including: 1) economic requirements (long-term savings, government incentives, risk reduction), 2) managerial requirements (management commitment, human resource management, planning, supporting infrastructure), 3) research requirements (pilot studies, financial analysis, applied research), 4) socio-cultural requirements (changing beliefs, culture building, changing attitudes) and 5) legal-political requirements (facilitating regulations, developing standards, developing a legal framework). Successful implementation requires an integrated approach including financial and technical support from the government, strengthening poultry management, implementing local pilots, building a culture, and developing a legal framework. This research can be used as a roadmap for policymakers in the transition to clean energy. Research Paper
