Islamshahr Township, the most populous township in Tehran Province, possesses extensive agricultural lands and significant agricultural output. Despite its proximity to two major Tehran wastewater treatment plants, the region continues to face water scarcity in its agricultural sector. This study therefore aimed to analyze farmers' perceptions regarding the use of wastewater and its sustainable management in agriculture. The study's statistical population consisted of farmers in Eslamshahr Township (N=1189). Using the Krejci and Morgan table, a sample size of 290 was determined, though the final sample included 266 individuals selected via stratified sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire, whose face and content validity were confirmed by a panel of experts, and its reliability was verified using Cronbach's alpha. A Kruskal-Wallis test revealed a significant difference among farmers concerning the sustainable management of wastewater use over the entire production period (at the 5% significance level). Furthermore, independent t-tests showed significant differences (at the 1% level) between urban and rural respondents, between members and non-members of environmental associations, and concerning the blending of treated wastewater with water from wells, rivers, and aqueducts. Finally, a Pearson correlation test indicated a positive and significant relationship (at the 1% level) between the sustainable management of wastewater use and participation in related training courses.
