Food security is one of the main concerns of today’s societies, especially in the agricultural sector, which plays a vital role in food production. The aim of this study is to analyze key strategies to improve food security in the agricultural sector in Lorestan Province. The statistical population consisted of 130 experts from the Agricultural Jihad, including water and soil specialists, crop specialists, horticulture, agricultural extension, and other sub-sectors of agriculture, as well as nutrition experts in Lorestan Province who were familiar with food security. Based on the Kej-si/Morgan sampling table, the minimum sample size was 97, and in the field, 100 individuals were purposefully interviewed. Data collection tool was a two-part questionnaire: the first part captured demographic information, and the second part assessed strategies for food security across five components: consumption, availability, sustainability, physical access, and economic access to food. The validity of the main scale of the questionnaire was confirmed by professors from the Faculty of Management and Agricultural Development at the University of Tehran, and the reliability of the questionnaire was confirmed with Cronbach’s alpha. Results showed that among the five main components, improving physical access to food (path coefficient 0.797) had the greatest impact on food security. Following that were food availability (0.785), sustainability of the food system (0.728), food consumption (0.621), and economic access to food (0.616). Accordingly, it is suggested to enhance transport infrastructure and establish local markets to increase physical access to food and thereby improve food security in the region.
